Have you ever noticed how life seems to always guide our path to what is for our best good? Shirl’s Greeting Cards came about in just that way. Grannie AnGel was the start. Our in house artist, Loretta and the rest of the girls thought it would be great fun to have a type of symbol related to PEACE, thus a Grannie AnGel peace mug and Grannie AnGel riding a peace bomb. Thus the Grannie AnGel mugs were created. Oh we thought we would wow the world. Becky set out to coffee shops to sell our wares. Well, sometimes dreams are dashed, she did sell a few.

We were wandering the streets of Sutter Creek, CA in the sierra foothills and discovered a shop to rent so jumping in with both feet we opened Grannie’s Girls. What a darling gift shop, decorated like a model home. Before we opened we put our artist to work painting the Grannie AnGel tried and true adages and made our own greeting cards to sell in our store. We started with 24 designs and continue to add to the collection. Our younger sister owns a dance studio and we wanted to add another line, The Pammy Collection with dancers, ballerinas, tap dancers and the rest. We had another 36 designs.

After a couple of years we decided to close our beautiful Grannie’s Girls and I would move on to yet another dream and goal. I returned to the real estate profession and this is how Shirl’s Greeting Cards have come into being.

Shirl’s Greeting Cards is my dream now and it has taken many years to get to this point. I am a very active 72 year old with great expectations for my life. I have always enjoyed writing. I have been making greeting cards for friends, family and real estate contacts for the past 3 years. I write all the sentiments and choose the art work. Once more I have called on my very talented sister, Loretta to hand paint all the designs I have created, soon to be on this web site. My son Brad and I collaborated on the song “Miracles, Miracles" for Shirl’s Greeting Cards.

What an adventure and wonderful life I live, so blessed and so loved. I am surrounded by strong entrepreneurial women, sisters, daughters, granddaughters, nieces and grand nieces, which you see below. A lineage of beautiful women young and old and we call ourselves the Blakesley Girls in honor of my mother, Beautiful Billie.

Shirl's Greeting Cards

"Miracles, Miracles" is the theme song for Shirl's Greeting Cards. Especially written in collaboration by Shirl and her son Brad for this site. Shirl is the lyricist and Brad wrote the music. He also plays the 2 guitars, bass and sings. Brad has been playing music since the age of 12 when he received a single drum for Christmas. He soon tired of the being so limited. So under his own volition he traded the drum for an electric bass. From that point he took bass lessons in school and learned to read music. Carrying the large string bass was quite something because it stuck out the window of his Mom's car!!! Soon Brad was playing both lead and back-up guitar. Brad's favorite music is rock - particularly classic hard rock and heavy metal. Classic Rock is popular and some of the Metal is also. He likes the underground metal but realizes it is not that popular. He is writing other music with Shirl and they are looking for that platinum record!
